
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the Jammu region’s tourism initiatives, focusing on infrastructure development, promotional strategies, and positioning Jammu as a year-round destination.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including ACS Tourism, ACS PWD, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Reasi and Udhampur, JKTDC Managing Director, and Director Tourism Jammu.
Dulloo emphasized leveraging digital platforms and social media, promoting adventure activities like rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, and water sports, and converting pilgrimage visits into multi-day tourism experiences. He stressed timely completion of ongoing works and proactive promotion of both emerging and established tourism circuits.
Key circuits reviewed included Katra–Shivkhori, Uttarbehni–Purmandal, Aithem Jammu, Chenab Rail Bridge, Baradari, Ranjit Sagar Lake, Patnitop–Sanasar, Surinsar–Mansar, Rajouri–Poonch, and leisure circuits of Bani–Bhadarwah, Sinthan, and Wadwan.
Department officials highlighted completed and ongoing works: ₹3.55 Cr at Shivkhori, ₹44.53 Cr DPRs under PRASAD scheme at Katra, ₹11.50 Cr at Uttarbehni–Purmandal, and development of Adventure Hub and Food Village at Aithem Jammu. Proposals for rafting, water sports, bungee jumping, zipline, and paragliding were discussed, alongside border tourism promotion at Suchetgarh and Gharana.
Promotional efforts include FAM tours, Dogri Food Festival, cultural evenings, social media campaigns, and publicity in major cities. Additionally, an annual Half Marathon will be launched in December to boost tourism during the peak season.
The meeting concluded with a renewed focus on infrastructure, adventure, cultural events, and strategic promotions to establish Jammu as a holistic, world-class tourism destination.
