J&K Braces for Heavy Rainfall, Flash Flood Risk Between August 9 and 11

August 08, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, August 8: The Meteorological Department has forecast a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir from August 9 to 11, with vulnerable areas facing the possibility of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging.

The weather forecast has raised concerns over road connectivity and transportation, particularly along stretches that remain vulnerable following recent rainfall and weather-related disruptions.

Authorities are expected to closely monitor flood-prone areas, water bodies and landslide-sensitive locations throughout the period. Residents have also been advised to exercise caution and remain alert to sudden changes in weather conditions.

The warning comes as several parts of Jammu and Kashmir have experienced weather-related incidents in recent days, including flash flooding and disruptions to road connectivity.

People living in vulnerable areas have been urged to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary movement near rivers, streams and other areas at risk during periods of intense rainfall.
