J&K Braces for More Rain as MeT Forecasts Hot, Humid Weather and Thunderstorms

Srinagar, August 19: Jammu and Kashmir recorded significant rainfall during the past 24 hours, with Jammu district receiving the highest precipitation at 88.7 mm, according to the Meteorological Department.

MeT data showed that Samba recorded 85 mm of rain, followed by Kathua at 76.6 mm, Katra at 48 mm and Udhampur at 32.2 mm.

The MeT Centre Srinagar has forecast generally hot and humid conditions across Jammu and Kashmir from August 19 to 22, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at scattered to many places.

Brief but intense heavy showers may occur in a few districts, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours.

From August 23 to 27, weather conditions are likely to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers possible at scattered locations during the early morning and afternoon.

The weather department has cautioned that intense showers at isolated locations could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural activities while remaining alert to changing weather conditions.
