'J&K prepares for 77th Republic Day celebrations'

December 24, 2025 | BK News Service

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday directed the civil administration and police to ensure comprehensive and seamless arrangements for the 77th Republic Day, to be observed on January 26, 2026, across Jammu & Kashmir.

Chairing a high-level preparedness meeting, Dulloo emphasised the importance of national pride and unity, urging divisional and district administrations to illuminate government offices and prominent buildings and encourage maximum public participation in celebrations. He also called for cleanliness, sanitation, uninterrupted power and water supply at key venues in Srinagar and Jammu.
Highlighting the role of schools, Dulloo instructed all educational institutions to organise their own Republic Day events, while Heads of Departments were asked to hold commemorative functions at their offices. He reviewed plans for cultural programmes, including performances by school children and band displays, as well as traffic management and transport arrangements for smooth celebrations.
Dulloo also urged departments to showcase thematic tableaux reflecting national and UT-specific achievements, including initiatives like Viksit Bharat, Nasha Mukt Bharat, Swachh Bharat, digital transformation, and women empowerment.
He assessed preparations by the Information Department for journalist passes and public address systems, Transport Department arrangements for student transport, and the readiness of essential services including power, water, and fire safety. The Chief Secretary called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure a memorable and successful Republic Day celebration in the Union Territory.
