Relation

Jammu is the 2nd largest and most populous city in Jammu and Kashmir after Srinagar. It connects Kashmir with the country via NH44. So it enjoys a commercially favorable position. Though Trade is the main source of income for Jammutians it still relies on Kashmir in many ways. Kashmir has also a strong bond with the Jammu district. As the name 'Jammu and Kashmir' suggests the two regions are inseparable from each other. We can say they are two faces of the same coin. Unlike other districts of the Jammu division Kashmir has a strong impact on Jammu.

Trade

Jammu is the exhibition hall for Kashmiri art and crafts. Its markets are adorned with Kashmiri handlooms, willow works, embroidered clothes, mats and carpets, dry fruits like walnuts and almonds, apples, and shawls.
Jammu flourishes because of the trade with Kashmir and Kashmir prospers because of the Jammu district. Jammu provides huge opportunities for Kashmiris.
In Kashmir, we see huge traffic jams in markets however at Jammu we see markets clouded with Kashmiris in such a way that mustard seeds can not scatter among them.

Tourism

Although Jammu has not much to attract tourists except religiously sacred places like Vaishno Devi Cave and temples, it is the first landing point for tourists visiting Kashmir. The season of Amarnath Yatra boosts its trade as it enjoys the Yatra's blessings in the form of launching Pad.

Livelihood

People from all corners of the Kashmir division are busy doing many jobs. Some are working as potters(coolie) carrying loads and gadgets of tourists. Some run hotels and restaurants. Some sell tea and other grocery items. Some sell garments and some sell fruits on carts. Many young boys work in wholesale shops and hotels for wages.
Transport facilities in Jammu are better than in Kashmir. Sleepers, video coaches, and other cozy buses run from Jammu to other major cities. So it attracts a lot of passengers at night for long journeys. Kashmiris who want to visit other states come here and take buses or book trains to their destination. It thus promotes the hotel and restaurant business. In simple words Jammu is the main station where people take the route to all major cities of the Country.

Gender Specific Markets

It takes a magical trick to feel the pulse of your clients. The pulse of Kashmiri consumers has been picked up by Jammu shopkeepers. They are aware that Kashmiri women like haggling. As a result, when questioned about the pricing of the products, they respond with double the actual rates. This is a highly dishonest and cunning tendency. In a similar vein, women open their wallets widely in a number of markets tailored to women alone. Every store has a board that lists the numerous items that are on sale. Even with the deceit, many continue to fall victim to it.

Landlords

In winter when people migrate from Kashmir to other parts of the country for their livelihood Jammu enjoys a hectic season of trade and commerce. Every nook and corner is adorned with Kashmiris. One thing worth mentioning here is that the harsh spell of winter( Chillai Kalan) does not enter Jammu city. So people from Kashmir find it congenial for elders and children. For this reason, people and their families move from Kashmir to Jammu to spend a short period of winter. It is again advantageous for landlords who give rooms on rent. This temporary migration fills every nook and corner of Jammu with Kashmiris. Now it has become a trend, particularly among the rich in Kashmir to migrate in winter. Many people have bought or constructed their buildings in and around Jammu city.

Coaching Centers

Besides this, students also come here for tuition. Many coaching centers take separate batches of students from the valley. This sector also brings laurels for Jammu. Thus, we can say that Jammu blooms because of Kashmir, and Kashmir flourishes because of Jammu. Paying Guest houses (PGs) accommodate a large number of Kashmiri students

Malls and Cinema

You can also see a huge gathering of Kashmiri people in Malls and Cinema. Wave Mall is the main attraction.
The auto industry also enjoys a hectic season in winter. An auto driver told me that in November they wait eagerly for Kashmiris' arrival because Kashmiris move from place to place thereby providing them a chance to make a livelihood. At the same time they feel sad about the departure of Kashmiris in March.
Fortunately, Traditional and language differences have never withered the bond of love and respect. People of the two regions know the essence of harmony. They are watering the spirit of harmony which is the soul of integrity. It is the harmonious atmosphere that makes us a single unit.

Kashmiri Pandits

Kashmiri Pandits at Jammu are true representatives of the Kashmiri language and culture. Their radiant faces radiate Kashmiri brilliance and color. When you see them speaking in Kashmiri you feel proud. At the same time, you miss them in Kashmir. You also see minute traces of grief on their forehead. They are Kashmiri so they should be in Kashmir. They're representing Kashmir at the national as well as international platforms. Their love for Kashmir is unprecedented and immortal.

Many employees working in the secretariat and other departments are seen in various places.

Conclusion

Jammu is the second home of Kashmiris, and Kashmir is the face of Jammu. Money earned in Kashmir is spent in Jammu and money earned in Jammu is used in Kashmir.
In short, Jammu and Kashmir together make the whole Union territory a promising territory. People of the two regions must work together to foster brotherhood, harmony, peace, and prosperity.
