
Jammu, Feb 18: Saffron production in J&K dropped from 23.53 MT in 2023–24 to 19.58 MT in 2024–25, though the cultivation area remained constant at 1,116.27 hectares. Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary noted that average productivity fell to 5.27 kg per hectare from 6.33 kg per hectare the previous year.
Exports also declined from 20.47 MT to 17.82 MT. The government is implementing improved agronomic practices and rejuvenation measures to stabilize and enhance saffron yields.
