
J&K To Witness Wet Spell Till August 19, Heavy Rain Alert For Jammu On August 11
Srinagar, August 9: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience an extended spell of rain and thundershowers from August 9 to 19, with the Meteorological Department warning of intense rainfall, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Between August 9 and 11, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places. Some districts of the Jammu division may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while isolated areas of Kashmir could also witness brief spells of intense rain. The highest activity is expected on August 11.
From August 12 to 16, partly cloudy conditions are likely to prevail, with light rain and thundershowers at many places. Some areas may experience brief intense showers.
Another spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected across several areas between August 17 and 19, with isolated intense showers also possible.
The weather department has advised authorities and residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, particularly between August 9 and 11. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in one or two Jammu districts during the night of August 11, raising the possibility of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging in low lying areas.
