
The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organised a notable literary event titled “An Interaction with Prof. Shad Ramzan” at the Conference Hall, Tagore Hall, Srinagar, celebrating the life and contributions of the eminent Kashmiri writer, poet, critic, translator, and educationist.
The programme was presided over by noted critic Prof. Bashir Bashir, with renowned poet Prof. Naseem Shafie as Guest of Honour. Prof. Shad Ramzan, AMK President Mohammad Amin Bhat, and Additional Secretary Ideel Saleem formed the presidium.
Additional Secretary Ideel Saleem opened the event with a welcome address, highlighting the Academy’s ongoing cultural and literary initiatives. Distinguished critic Dr. Satish Vimal presented a comprehensive paper on Prof. Ramzan’s intellectual and creative achievements, earning warm appreciation from attendees.
The Academy honoured Prof. Ramzan with a traditional shawl and memento. In his remarks, Prof. Ramzan reflected on his personal journey, creative evolution, and academic experiences, expressing gratitude to the Academy for the recognition.
A lively interactive session followed, with prominent literary figures engaging Prof. Ramzan in discussions on his work and influence. Participants included Engineer Mohammad Shafi, Shamshad Kralwari, Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Ayash Aarif, Gulshan Badarani, Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq, and several other scholars and writers.
AMK President Mohammad Amin Bhat praised Prof. Ramzan as a rare literary figure whose intellectual depth and creative excellence have enriched every dimension of Kashmiri literature. In his presidential address, Prof. Bashir Bashir described Prof. Ramzan as an extraordinary scholar with equal mastery over creative writing, criticism, research, and teaching, calling him a guiding light for younger generations.
The event was attended by numerous prominent literary personalities and enthusiasts. Assistant Editor (Kashmiri) Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather conducted the proceedings, and Editor (Kashmiri) Jawaid Iqbal Khan delivered the vote of thanks
