In a significant crackdown on militant activity, intelligence-based joint operations were conducted by formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in close coordination with the Manipur Police. The operations spanned across several key districts of Manipur—Jiribam, Pherzawl, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Imphal West, and Imphal East—from August 18 to 24, 2025.
As a result of these sustained efforts, eight militant cadres were apprehended, and a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. The seized items included 10 weapons comprising automatic rifles, pistols, improvised mortars, grenades, and other warlike stores.
The operations underscore the growing synergy between security forces and local law enforcement in restoring peace and stability in the strife-affected regions of Manipur. Officials stated that such joint missions will continue in the coming weeks to neutralize threats and ensure civilian safety.
The recovered materials have been handed over to concerned authorities, and further investigation is underway to determine the affiliations and intentions of the apprehended individuals.
