Srinagar, Mar 28: The Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, was observed on Friday with religious fervour and joy across Jammu and Kashmir.
Worshippers thronged mosques and shrines across Jammu and Kashmir to observe Jumat-ul-Vida.
A sea of people thronged Hazratbal shrine in Dargah Srinagar on the last Friday of Ramadan.
The worshippers from different parts of the Valley gathered at Hazratbal, where men, women, and children offered prayers, seeking divine blessings.
According to officials, over one lakh devotees offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at Hazratbal.
Emotional scenes were witnessed at DargahHazratbal, where thousands of people offered Friday prayers.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah also offered Friday prayers at the Hazratbal shrine.
Other major mosques and shrines also saw massive gatherings, as the faithful marked the sacred day with devotion.
Thousands of people also gathered at other shrines and mosques, including Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith in Gawkadal, Asar-e-Sharif in Janab Sahib, Soura, Asar-e-Sharif in ShehriKalashpora, ZiaratDastgeer Sahib in Khanyar, ZiaratDastgeer Sahib in SaraiBala, Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib, and Khanqah-e-Mualla.
However, the Jumat-ul-Vida prayers were disallowed at Kashmir’s grand mosque – Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
The devotees expressed their spiritual aspirations, with many praying for peace and prosperity.
“This is a special day when prayers are answered. I prayed for peace in the world,” said Abdul Gaffar, a devotee from Budgam.
The Jumat -ul-Vida holds immense religious significance as the Muslims prepare to bid farewell to the holy month of Ramadan. People attend religious gatherings across various places of worship and spend time in repentance, prayers, and charity.
The Friday sermons highlighted to carrying forward the essence of Ramadan into other months to remain connected with Allah and continue performing good deeds. The focus was on understanding how this holy month serves as a period of training for the rest of the year.
It was highlighted that Muslims should strive to be consistently devout, rather than solely during Ramadan, to receive complete rewards from Allah. All religious gatherings were held in a peaceful atmosphere.
