The Kargil Braveheart Football Tournament 2025 kicked off today at the Chandel Christian Football Stadium in Manipur with a vibrant opening ceremony that blended sport with patriotism. The event drew a large gathering of community leaders, youth clubs, football enthusiasts, and local residents eager to witness the action.

Organised under Operation Sadbhavana by the Assam Rifles in collaboration with the District Sports Association, Chandel, and supported by the Ex-Servicemen Association of Chandel, the week-long tournament will run from December 1 to December 8, 2025. Sixteen teams from across the district are competing for top honours, making it one of Chandel’s largest football events of the year.
The tournament is conceived as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Kargil War heroes, aiming to instill patriotic pride while promoting peace, unity, and youth engagement through sport. The opening ceremony featured cultural performances, speeches by local dignitaries, and a ceremonial kick-off symbolizing the spirit of bravery and community solidarity.
Players and teams expressed their excitement to participate, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in motivating youth and fostering sportsmanship.
