Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday described Kashmir as the “crown of India” and a timeless center of learning and wisdom.
Talking to the media in Srinagar, the Bihar Governor said Kashmir occupies a special place in his heart. “This is not something I’m saying to please anyone or in a ceremonial way,”.
“I genuinely mean it when I say that Kashmir is the crown of our country,” Khan said. “In our Sanskrit institutions, before receiving a degree, students are symbolically asked to take a few steps toward Kashmir. It is a gesture of respect to this land of knowledge, wisdom, and learning.”
His remarks drew attention for their cultural and emotional depth, emphasizing Kashmir’s role in India’s intellectual and spiritual history.
On demand for statehood, Khan said this is the desire of everyone in India, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The prime minister wants Kashmir to have the autonomy to decide for itself. However, we must create normalcy for it. We must ensure that the normal rule of law is followed just as it is followed elsewhere,” he said.
“The ultimate objective remains to build a peaceful, balanced and stable atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
Khan also stated that all necessary arrangements for the upcoming Bihar elections have been completed to ensure a smooth, transparent and fair polling process.
