Kashmiri cyclist completes K2K ride

In a remarkable display of endurance and passion, Rafiq Ahmad, an enthusiastic cyclist from Kashmir, has successfully completed the prestigious Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) Cycling Expedition, covering an impressive 4,249 kilometers. The expedition, themed “A Ride for Unity,” concluded on November 16, 2025, marking a proud moment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Flagged off by Secretary Sports Council Ms. Nuzhat Gul on November 1, 2025, from TRC Srinagar, the event was organized by Dare2Gear Adventure in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Fit India Movement. The expedition was part of nationwide celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, promoting national unity, physical fitness, and endurance.
Among the 150 cyclists from across the country, Rafiq Ahmad was the sole representative from Jammu and Kashmir, bringing immense pride to the Union Territory. Over 16 challenging days, the team navigated diverse terrains and weather conditions, showcasing exceptional determination, discipline, and mental resilience.
After reaching Kanyakumari, Rafiq Ahmad expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the cycling fraternity for their constant prayers, support, and encouragement. Calling the expedition a “life-changing experience,” he said it deepened his belief in unity and perseverance.
Rafiq also shared a dream close to his heart, saying:
“My dream is to one day reach the holy city of Makkah on my bicycle. I pray that Allah grants me the strength to fulfill this dream.”
This extraordinary accomplishment not only reflects Rafiq Ahmad’s dedication and spirit but also serves as an inspiration for young athletes across Jammu and Kashmir.
President JKMBA, Riyaz Wani, congratulated Rafiq for his outstanding achievement, stating:
“Rafiq has completed a landmark ride and has become the second cyclist from the Kashmir Valley to achieve this milestone. We are all incredibly proud of his dedication, hard work, and the honor he has brought to our region.”
