
Jammu, Mar 14: Kathua Heros defeated Jammu Sultans by 67 runs, Jammu Tigers defeated Kishtwar Kings by 95 runs, and in the quarterfinals of the YSS-JKSC Cricket Premier League at M A Stadium in Jammu on Saturday and stormed into semifinals.
In the first match of the day, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Kathua Heros posted a competitive 168/6 in 20 overs, thanks to a superb knock by Puri Abhinav, who anchored the innings with 78 runs off 53 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes.
Kathua had a steady start with Saksham 25 contributing 16 runs, but it was Abhinav who controlled the innings with fluent stroke play. Later, Manitvya Sharma added valuable momentum with 26 off 19 balls, helping the team maintain a healthy run rate. Despite picking up wickets at intervals, Jammu Sultans’ bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs. Akash Gupta was the most successful among them, claiming 2 wickets for 31 runs, while Charukesh Zutshi and captain Ajay chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing 169 for victory, Jammu Sultans faltered early and never recovered from regular wickets. Wicketkeeper Anshul fought briefly with a quick 24 off 16 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Middle-order contributions from Charukesh Zutshi (18) and Ashish Koul (14) were not enough as the side was bowled out for 101 in 15.3 overs.
