
Keshav Mahajan bagged the Under-13 Sunday Chess Tournament title which was organised to build the spirit of competition among young learners of the game in Jammu.
Keshav and Nitika secured equal 5.5 points out of six rounds. However, following the laid down norms of the game, Keshav and Nitika fought in a decider wherein Keshav emerged winner.
The second place went to Nitika while budding Darpan Mahajan (four) finished third to contain with Bronze medal. Other Standings: Prince (3), Anjali (3), Prajanya (3); Sanjeev (3), Gunjan (2), Devansh (1) and Yashwina (0).
The first leg of the initiative took place at Vivek Chess Academy, wherein 10 young boys and girls of under-13 years of age participated. “The initiative has been taken to build the spirit of competition among the young learners of different academies of Jammu,” said one of the top chess trainers of Jammu, Vivek Bharati, who later presented the medals to the winners.
