Poonch, Nov 22: The Krishna Ghati Brigade, under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division, successfully concluded the Krishna Ghati Premier League (KGPL) 2025-26 with a spectacular grand finale and closing ceremony at the Sports Ground, Jhullas. Held from 02 to 21 November 2025, the tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 26 teams across Poonch, Mendhar, Surankote and Mandi, making it one of the most prominent sporting events in the region The grand finale was graced by the General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. He praised the initiative of the Krishna Ghati Brigade in creating a disciplined and professional sports platform for border-area youth. Highlighting the power of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork and leadership, Lt Gen Mishra urged youngsters to stay committed to constructive pathways and contribute to building a drug-free society. He further stressed that events like KGPL play a crucial role in promoting national integration, unity and communal harmony in border regions Also present on the occasion was Brigadier Amit, Commander Krishna Ghati 10th Brigade, whose guidance and leadership played a pivotal role in the smooth conduct of KGPL 2025-26. He appreciated the overwhelming participation of young players and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for the youth to showcase their talent and stay engaged in positive, productive activities KGPL was conceptualised to cultivate a strong sporting culture in the border belt while deepening civil-military cooperation. With prizes worth ₹8 lakhs, the tournament encouraged broad participation and enhanced competitive spirit among players This season witnessed an extraordinary digital milestone, with over 13.52 crore online viewership through live-streaming and digital highlights. Player interviews, match analyses and social media outreach significantly amplified the visibility of local cricketing talent.

Alongside the sporting spectacle, the Indian Army conducted impactful community welfare initiatives including Ek Ped Desh Ke Naam, anti-drug awareness campaigns, motivational lectures in schools and specialised training for Village Defence Committees, adding immense social value to the event In the thrilling final, LOC Cricket Club Poonch emerged as the KGPL Season 2 Champions, defeating Panjal Warriors by 14 runs. Sajjad Shaikh was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
