March 26, 2020 | BK News Service/Anantnag

Residents of Kharpora Kokernag are up in arms against Roads and Buildings (R&B) department for failing to repair t dilapidated roads in the area.
Expressing dismay over dilapidated condition of road, they said from the past 3 years, the people are facing inconvenience in reaching the other destinations in the area.
Mohammad Mustafa, said that is always waterlogged, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. The road is leading to several vital villages but authorities have failed to resolve that issue, he said.
“During rains, the road is turned into cesspools. When water remains stagnant for a long time, it becomes difficult to reach the hospital,” Mustafa said.
He said pitiable condition of this road exposed the tall claims of the R&B about the maintenance of the roads in far-flung areas.
Another resident Kaiser Majeed said 36 kilometers road is dotted with potholes and due to its bad condition, the drivers mostly three-wheelers avoid plying on the route.
“Several times we approached R&B department, but they turned deaf ears to our pleas,” he said adding that there is no one who can listen to resolve our demands.
The villagers appealed Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to repair the road immediate basis and provide relief to the residents.
A senior official at R&B Kashmir said that they will look into the matter and issue would be solved as soon as possible.“The road would be repaired within the next few months,” the official said. (JKNS)
