Thoubal, Aug 14: Assam Rifles is organising a special Pipe Band Display and Cultural Evening at the historic Khongjom War Memorial in Thoubal district of Manipur on Friday to mark the spirit of the 80th Independence Day.
The programme, scheduled from 4 pm to 5:30 pm, will bring together music, traditional performances and patriotic presentations, providing the people of Manipur an opportunity to celebrate Independence Day through the region's rich cultural heritage.
A major attraction of the evening will be a stirring performance by the Assam Rifles Pipe Band, showcasing military music and ceremonial traditions. The programme will also feature a spectacular Khukri Dance and performances by the Assam Rifles Jazz Band.
Students will add a strong cultural and youthful dimension to the celebrations, with performances by students of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Assam Rifles Public School and Mission Blind School.
The event at the Khongjom War Memorial carries particular significance as the historic site commemorates the valour and sacrifice associated with Manipur's resistance during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.
Through music, dance and cultural performances, the programme seeks to bring together people from different sections of society and reinforce messages of national unity, patriotism and pride in India's cultural diversity.
The event is also aimed at providing local youth with a platform to showcase their talent while connecting them with the values of service, courage and national responsibility.
The evening is expected to offer a blend of military tradition, Manipuri culture and patriotic spirit, with the historic Khongjom War Memorial serving as the backdrop for the Independence Day celebrations.
Assam Rifles has invited the people of Manipur to participate in the programme and join in celebrating the 80th Independence Day in an atmosphere of music, tradition, unity and national pride.
