Major General Tushar Sharma on Saturday took over the charge of Army’s strategic Kilo Force - which is headquartered at Sharifabad, on Srinagar outskirts.

The Kilo force is an Army's counter-insurgency division that operates in the northern Kashmir districts .
Major General Tushar Sharma took over as the 21st General Officer Commanding of the Kilo Force, succeeding Major General Vivek Narang, Srinagar based Defence spokesman said.
He said Major General Sharma, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), has undertaken various staff and command appointments in varied terrain and formations and has extensive experience in counter terrorism operations.
On assuming command, Major General Sharma paid homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in line of duty and exhorted all ranks to reaffirm their resolve to uphold the legacy of the formation through steadfast commitment and devotion to duty, the spokesman said.
He emphasised the critical importance of combat readiness to effectively thwart all hostile and nefarious designs of inimical forces in North Kashmir.
