
Anantnag, Oct 13: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, inaugurated a Kisan Mela-cum-Exhibition at Khanabal, organized by the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare under the SMAE-ATMA 2025-26 scheme.
The mela aims to educate and motivate farmers about welfare schemes and modern agricultural technologies. Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasized the importance of such events in raising awareness about latest equipment and subsidy schemes, which offer over 50% support for farmers.
He highlighted the potential of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and allied sectors like beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and floriculture in generating sustainable livelihoods and boosting incomes. The Minister also inspected stalls by Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative, and Labour and Employment departments.
MLAs, district officials, and members of the farming community attended the event, which seeks to strengthen farmer engagement and promote modern agricultural practices across J&K.
