Kohima Battalion marks 69th Raising Day

Kohima, Feb 16: The Kohima Battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated its 69th Raising Day with pride and enthusiasm at Kohima on February 16, 2026. The occasion was marked by a series of ceremonial and welfare activities reflecting the battalion’s rich legacy and unwavering commitment to national service.

The celebrations commenced with a Special Mandir Parade, where all ranks gathered to seek blessings and reaffirm their dedication to duty. A solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony was held to pay homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Senior officers and personnel observed the ceremony with deep reverence, honouring the courage and sacrifice of their fallen comrades.
A Special Sainik Sammelan was also organised, providing a platform for open interaction between officers and troops. During the address, the battalion leadership lauded the professionalism, discipline and operational excellence displayed by all ranks, and encouraged them to continue upholding the proud traditions of the force.
The celebrations further included a Central Barakhana, fostering camaraderie and esprit de corps among personnel, and a vibrant Meena Bazaar that added a festive spirit to the occasion. Families of troops also participated in the events, strengthening the sense of community within the battalion.
The Raising Day celebrations highlighted the unity, discipline and distinguished legacy of the Kohima Battalion, while reaffirming its steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation and serving with honour.
