
The University of Kashmir (KU) on Tuesday organised its Annual Inter-College Road Race (Men & Women), as part of the varsity’s annual sports calendar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from student athletes across the valley.
The event, organised by the varsity's Directorate of Physical Education & Sports (DPES), drew participants from over 26 degree colleges and constituent colleges, including the postgraduate contingent. Athletes displayed remarkable endurance and determination as they raced along the scenic Boulevard Road.
The Women’s Road Race commenced from Nishat Garden, while the Men’s Road Race was flagged off from Lalit Grand by Dean Students’ Welfare KU, Prof. Pervez Ahmad. Both races concluded at the University’s Rumi Gate.
In his address, Prof. Pervez congratulated the winners and all the participants for their spirited performances, emphasising the role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, and overall development.
Earlier, Dr. Surjeet Singh, Coordinator, DPES KU, welcomed the guests and participants, highlighting the importance of endurance sports and reiterating the Directorate’s commitment to prepare athletes for national-level championships.
Later, a prize distribution ceremony was held at the campus where medals and certificates were awarded to the winners.

Women’s Division
1st Position: Tanzeela Irshad, Women’s College Pulwama
2nd Position: Sabreena Qayoom, GDC Budgam
3rd Position: Insha Fayaz, GDC Ganderbal
Men’s Division
1st Position: Aijaz Ahmad Hajam, GDC Kangan
2nd Position: Imtiyaz Ahmad Bokda, GDC Kangan
3rd Position: Mohammad Asif Rather, GDC Pattan
The proceedings were conducted by Volleyball Coach KU, Muneer Alam, while Assistant Director DPES KU, Tausif Bhat, presented the formal vote of thanks.
