
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Scheme and Other Welfare Schemes.
ALC Kupwara apprised the meeting about the progress and achievements of the Labour department Kupwara. It was informed that 268635 unorganised workers are registered on e-Shram Portal in district Kupwara.
He informed about different schemes run by the department including JKBOCW WELFARE scheme where-in 54152 construction workers are registered and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) under which 7463 beneficiaries are registered in the district. The scheme is aimed to ensure old age protection for unorganized workers.
DC impressed upon the officers to ensure maximum coverage of the PM-SYM scheme so that a large number of beneficiaries get benefitted under the scheme. He directed the ALC to share details of the scheme among the officers so that they shall percolate down the information for registration of the targeted beneficiaries.
It was informed that Rs.15,90,05,950 have been distributed by the department among 29148 beneficiaries under different schemes including Education Assistance, Chronic Assistance, Disability, Death and Funeral Assistance.
Meanwhile, under the Education Assistance scheme, a cheque of Rs.5.83 crore was issued to the bank for release of pending payment among 6424 workers
