War Shahbaz has created history by becoming the first candidate from District Kupwara to be selected by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for the prestigious NIS Yogasana Coaching Programme for the 2025–26 session. His selection marks a significant milestone for Yogasana sports in North Kashmir and reflects the growing talent emerging from the region.

Shahbaz is an accomplished athlete with an impressive record to his name. He is a three-time National Gold Medalist in Martial Arts, an International Silver Medalist, an NCC “C” Certificate holder, and a two-time National Yogasana player. He also founded the Shahbaz Sports Academy in Batgund, where he has been training young athletes and promoting a culture of discipline and physical fitness.
Expressing gratitude and pride, Shahbaz said this achievement is not just a personal milestone but a responsibility. He added that he hopes his journey will inspire the youth of Kupwara and the wider Kashmir region to believe in their abilities and strive for excellence at national and international levels.
