
Srinagar, April 13: A police case has been filed against a senior lecturer posted in north Kashmir’s Sopore town after a girl student accused him of harassment.
The incident triggered a protest by students within the school premises, following which a police team led by SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating students.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Iftikhar Talib said the lecturer has been booked and an investigation set into motion after the girl student’s allegations.
Meanwhile, Directorate of School Education Kashmir suspended the lecturer with immediate effect while inquiry into his conduct has also been ordered.
As per an official order, Ghulam Hasan Mir, senior lecturer Urdu at GHSS Sopore, has been suspended with immediate effect and attached to BHSS Badugam, Gurez, Bandipora, while a departmental inquiry has been ordered.
Joint Director North has been appointed as the inquiry officer to conduct a time bound probe and has been directed to submit the report within 15 days.
Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
