
Baramulla, Sep 6: A leopard reportedly killed a horse Cub in the Cheradari area of Microwave Kanli Bagh on Saturday night, with the incident taking place around 9 pm, according to local resident Imtiaz Ahmad.
Speaking to Brighter Kashmir, Imtiaz Ahmad said leopard movement continues to be reported across Microwave Kanli Bagh and adjoining areas, including Friends Colony, Shah Mohalla, Chedari, PDD Colony and Naseem Bagh.
The latest incident has renewed concerns among residents, particularly regarding the safety of livestock and people living in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Wildlife Department teams, along with Social Forestry and Forest Protection personnel, are continuing search operations to track and capture the leopard.
Officials have installed trapping cages and CCTV/camera-trap equipment at strategic locations to monitor the animal's movement. The district administration is also monitoring the situation and has reportedly provided necessary equipment and support to the teams involved in the operation.
Residents have urged the authorities to intensify the ongoing operation and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of people and livestock in the area.
