PM, CM announce ex gratia relief

Srinagar, April 20: The Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and President Murmu and other leaders condoled the loss of lives in the Udhampur accident while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced the exgratia relief.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his deep anguish and grief over the loss of lives in the tragic road accident in Ramnagar, Udhampur.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor has said: “Tragic road accident in Udhampur is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. May God grant them strength. Praying for speedy recovery of the injured. I have directed the district administration, Police, SDRF and Health Department to provide every possible assistance to those affected.”
President Droupadi Murmu also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.
“I am deeply saddened to learn about the deaths of several people in the bus accident that occurred in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. I express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” Murmu said in a post on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
“Pained to hear about the loss of lives due to a bus accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the PM posted on X.
An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each of those who lost their lives in the tragic mishap. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000, said PM Modi.
Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the Udhampur bus accident.
In a message posted on X, Shah said the road accident in Udhampur is extremely tragic.
“I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. The local administration is fully engaged with utmost promptness in relief and rescue operations. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured” he said.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident involving a passenger bus travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur.
The CM announced immediate relief from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for victims of the Udhampur road accident.
An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, ₹1 lakh to those seriously injured, and ₹25,000 to persons who sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The CM said that no amount of financial assistance can compensate for the irreparable loss of lives in the tragic incident, but the relief is being extended as an immediate measure to support the affected families.
He reiterated that the government stands firmly with the victims and assured all possible assistance.
