
‘Security forces have shown unwavering commitment & given sacrifices to protect our freedom’
Jammu, Jan 26: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha unfurled the National Flag at the UT level function on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, at MA Stadium on Monday.
The Lieutenant Governor inspected the contingents of the Republic Day Parade and took the ceremonial salute.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Sinha paid tribute to freedom fighters and the architects of the country’s Constitution.
He highlighted their vision, courage and sacrifice to shape the India of our dreams.
The LG commended the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police for their unwavering vigilance, courage, and sacrifice, ensuring peace and security in the region.
He said, “Our security forces have shown unwavering commitment and given sacrifices to protect our freedom”.
The L-G emphasised the need to guide J&K towards greater heights of development and prosperity, accelerating economic progress, and creating robust infrastructure.
For the overall progress of J&K, he said, ensuring fair access to quality education, healthcare, and equal opportunities for youth, including women, to realise their full potential are the essentials.
Sinha took salute at an impressive parade in which smartly turned-out contingents of the Army, CAPFs, J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, fire and emergency services, NCC and schoolchildren took part.
The parade was followed by cultural programmes and drills by schoolchildren.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, judges of the high court, ministers, the chief secretary and other senior civil and police officers attended the function in addition to a large number of civilians.
The march-past featured a disciplined display by smart contingents from Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, IRP (Women & Male), J&K Police, JKAP, UT Disaster Response Force, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, Excise & Taxation Department, Ex-Servicemen, NCC (Boys and Girls), Bharat Scouts and Guides (Girls & Boys) and several school contingents, Brass & Pipe Bands of Army, BSF, J&K Police and Band Troops (Girl & Boys) of different Schools.
The celebration showcased the developmental and cultural spirit of Jammu & Kashmir through vibrant tableaux. Key themes included Operation Sindoor, Mission Yuva, Road Safety, Nasha Mukt J&K, Shram ko Samman, Saral Kar, Sashakt Bharat and Food Safety.
The crowd was enthralled by the impressive Motorcycle Acrobatic display by the JKP’s Dare-Devils and a diverse cultural pageantry representing the UT’s rich heritage.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor visited the Police Martyrs Memorial and Balidan Stambh. He laid wreaths and paid tribute to the bravehearts of the Police, Army, and CAPFs who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation.
