Srinagar, May 2: A day after assuming command of the Army's strategically Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Balbir Singh today called on J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, officials said.

Lt Gen Singh assumed command of the Army's 15 Corp also called as Chinar Corps on Friday, succeeding Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, who demitted office upon completion of his tenure.
Army Srinagar based 15 Corps is responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley, including guarding the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and handling counter-terrorism operations in the hinterland.
