Dimapur, April 26: In a solemn and dignified ceremony, Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of III Corps (popularly known as Spear Corps), dedicated the newly renovated War Memorial at Lunglei, reaffirming the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to honouring its fallen heroes.

Set amid the serene hills of Mizoram, the memorial stands as a powerful symbol of sacrifice, courage, and patriotism. The renovation project, carried out jointly by the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles, has transformed the site into a dignified space for remembrance—ensuring that the legacy of soldiers who laid down their lives continues to inspire generations.

During the ceremony, Lt Gen Pendharkar paid homage to the “brave hearts” whose names and stories are etched into the nation’s history. The event was attended by military personnel, veterans, local officials, and residents, reflecting a shared sense of pride and gratitude.
