Srinagar, July 25: The Shri Amarnathji Yatra will continue through the Baltal route after authorities temporarily suspended pilgrim movement on the Pahalgam axis to facilitate repair and restoration works following recent rainfall.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, said the adverse weather had damaged portions of the Pahalgam track, making immediate maintenance essential to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

He said all necessary arrangements have been put in place on the Baltal axis to ensure the smooth and secure movement of devotees while restoration work is carried out on the affected stretch of the Pahalgam route.

"Due to the recent rains, urgent repair and maintenance works are required on the Pahalgam axis of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra. The pilgrimage will continue through the Baltal axis, where adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and smooth Yatra," Garg said.

Officials said the annual pilgrimage has so far witnessed a strong turnout, with more than 3.95 lakh devotees having paid obeisance at the Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine during this year's Yatra. The administration said the pilgrimage has so far been conducted peacefully with coordinated efforts from all concerned agencies.
