
Srinagar, April 16: Continuing its sustained drive under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, police conducted multiple coordinated operations across South Kashmir, leading to the arrest of 13 drug peddlers and the recovery of a large quantity of contraband substances.
In Anantnag, Police Station Srigufwara carried out a series of raids and naka checks, recovering significant quantities of charas-like substances from several individuals. In separate operations, accused persons including Nisar Ahmad Nadaf, Adil Ahmad Mochi, Aqib Ramzan Rather, and others were arrested with recoveries ranging from small quantities of heroin to nearly 2 kg consignments of charas-like material. A passenger auto was also intercepted near Mill Mod, leading to the arrest of two individuals and recovery of heroin. In another major action at Marhama, over 7.8 kg of charas-like substance was recovered from one accused.
In Awantipora, police teams arrested multiple drug peddlers during naka checking at the Toll Plaza and NH-44 area. Over 1 kg of charas-like substance was recovered from two persons riding a motorcycle, which was also seized. In another operation, two more individuals were arrested with heroin-like substances during routine checks.
In Pulwama, naka operations at Zadoora and Tujan Telsar crossing led to the arrest of two persons with poppy straw, charas powder, and heroin-like substances.
In Ganderbal, acting on specific inputs, police recovered around 580 grams of charas-like powder from a cowshed in Kangan following proper legal procedures, including the presence of an executive magistrate.
Police have registered cases under relevant provisions of law and further investigations are underway.
J&K Police reiterated their commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and urged the public to share information to help build a drug-free society and protect the youth.
