Mandatory health screening for Haj-2026 pilgrims

January 31, 2026 | BK News Service

Srinagar, Jan 30 : The Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee has made mandatory health and medical fitness screening along with vaccination compulsory for all selected pilgrims of Haj-2026 (1447 Hijri), warning that non-compliance may result in cancellation of Haj travel or denial of entry into Saudi Arabia.
According to an official notification issued by the Haj Committee, the decision has been taken in line with guidelines of the Haj Committee of India and health protocols laid down by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Completion of these medical requirements has been declared a prerequisite for travel and entry.
The Committee said medical fitness screening and vaccination camps will be organised across all districts, and pilgrims must report to designated venues between 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM as per the district-wise schedule.
Pilgrims have been directed to fully disclose their health status and carry all previous medical records, prescriptions, and discharge summaries, if any. The notification clearly states that pilgrims suffering from major organ failure, severe neurological or psychiatric disorders, advanced dementia, or active infectious diseases such as tuberculosis will not be permitted to proceed for Haj.
As part of mandatory vaccinations, pilgrims must receive Meningococcal Meningitis (ACYW) and Oral Polio Vaccine, as per the latest health protocols. Original vaccination certificates must be collected from medical authorities and kept safely, as these documents may be checked by Saudi health authorities at ports of entry.
The Haj Committee further instructed pilgrims to keep essential documents ready, including passport copies, identity proof, and medical reports. It cautioned that failure to meet health and immunisation requirements will invite strict action, including cancellation of travel arrangements.
Meanwhile, the Committee has also released a district-wise schedule for medical screening and vaccination camps, covering districts including Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, Baramulla, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua, Samba, Poonch and others. Vaccination schedules for remaining districts, if any, will be notified separately.
The Haj Committee has urged all selected pilgrims to strictly adhere to the schedule and instructions in the interest of a smooth and safe Haj journey.
