December 21, 2025 | BK News Service

Kolkata, Dec 18: A group of students from Manipur participating in a National Integration Tour visited Kolkata on December 18, 2025, gaining exposure to the city’s rich cultural heritage, modern urban life, and the ethos of national service. The tour, organised by Assam Rifles, is part of a broader initiative to promote national integration and inspire youth from the North East.

During their visit, the students toured Vijay Smarak, the headquarters of Eastern Command, where they interacted with Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC-in-C Eastern Command. Lt Gen Tiwari engaged with the students in an interactive session, highlighting the importance of leadership, discipline, and commitment to national service. He encouraged the youth to imbibe values of responsibility, teamwork, and dedication, essential for both personal growth and contributing to the nation’s progress.
The itinerary also included a ferry ride on the Hooghly River, offering the students a scenic view of the city, followed by a visit to Acropolis Mall, which provided insights into modern urban development and commercial life in Kolkata. The day concluded with a visit to the historic Mohun Bagan Stadium, a symbol of India’s sporting legacy and one of the country’s most iconic football venues.
Through this tour, Assam Rifles aims to foster a sense of unity, patriotism, and cultural understanding among students from the North East, allowing them to experience diverse traditions, urban life, and the spirit of national integration firsthand. The students returned with enriched knowledge, a broader worldview, and renewed motivation to contribute positively to society.
