Imphal, Mar 14: The Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Spear Corps organised a 10-day National Integration Tour for youths from Manipur, which concluded with a flag-in ceremony at the New Keithelmanbi Garrison on March 13.
The tour was flagged in by the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, under the Army’s civic outreach initiative Operation Sadbhavna. The programme aimed to expose young participants to the cultural diversity, development initiatives and national institutions across the country.
A total of 24 youths from different parts of Manipur participated in the tour. During the 10-day journey, the participants visited various prominent locations, interacted with officials and gained first-hand experience of India’s rich heritage, cultural traditions and ongoing development projects.
Officials said the National Integration Tour was designed to broaden the outlook of young people from remote areas by giving them an opportunity to see different parts of the country and understand the unity in diversity that defines India. The initiative also sought to inspire them to pursue education, leadership and community development in their home state.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles for organising such programmes that provide valuable exposure to youth and strengthen the spirit of national integration.
Local community members and parents also expressed gratitude to the security forces for facilitating the tour, saying that such initiatives motivate young people and help them build confidence while fostering a stronger connection with the nation.
The Assam Rifles has been actively conducting National Integration Tours, sports events, educational programmes and infrastructure projects across the region under Operation Sadbhavna to promote peace, development and greater engagement with local communities.
