Massive candlelight marches held in Kashmir to denounce violence

In a powerful expression of solidarity and condemnation, residents of Ganderbal gathered Wednesday evening for a peaceful candlelight protest against the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
People from various walks of life including civil society members, traders and youth came together in Sonamarg, Kangan and Clock Tower Duderhama, holding candles and placards to denounce the cowardly act of violence that claimed innocent lives and injured several others.
The protestors called for peace, unity, and strict action against those responsible for destabilizing the harmony in the valley.
They expressed grief over the loss of life and emphasized the importance of safeguarding the Valley’s long-standing tradition of hospitality and brotherhood.

 


Kulgam

 

Meanwhile In a powerful expression of solidarity and condemnation, residents of Kulgam gathered this evening for a peaceful candlelight protest against the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
People from all walks of life including civil society members, traders and youth came together in Kulgam, Qaimoo, Yaripora, D.HPora, Kund, Mohmadpora Areh, Pahloo Devsar and all other areas holding candles and placards to denounce the cowardly act of violence that claimed innocent lives and injured several others.
The protestors called for peace, unity, and strict action against those responsible for destabilizing the harmony in the valley.
They expressed grief over the loss of life and emphasized the importance of safeguarding the Valley’s long-standing tradition of hospitality and brotherhood.


Pulwama


In a solemn expression of grief and solidarity, people of Pulwama came together today to mourn the tragic loss of innocent lives in the terrorist attack that occurred yesterday in Baisaran, Pahalgam.
A massive rally was organised in Pulwama town that culminated at the Clock Tower, here. The rally witnessed the participation of a broad spectrum of society, including members of the civil society, Bar Association, Traders Association, Transporters Union, Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, social activists, youth and locals in large numbers.
Participants raised slogans expressing solidarity with the bereaved families of the slain tourists and unequivocally condemned the cowardly and inhumane act of terror.
The rally served as a strong message that the people of Pulwama stand for peace, coexistence and shared humanity and will not allow the terrorists to disturb the social fabric of the region.
Similar rallies were also organised at various places across District Pulwama including at Tral, Awantipora where people came together to condemn the attack and showed solidarity with the victims.
While expressing their profound grief over the tragic incident, the people of Pulwama also organised a candlelight march in town that culminated at Main Chowk Pulwama. Holding candles and placards, the participants walked in silence to honour the memory of the victims, reaffirming their collective commitment to peace and humanity.
The District Administration Pulwama has also established a 24x7 Help Desk and Emergency Control Room at the District Administrative Complex, DC Office Pulwama, to provide immediate assistance to visitors and tourists.
Besides, as a mark of respect and solidarity to the departed souls, two minute silence was also observed today by all departments across district Pulwama.


Ganderbal

Meanwhile, District Administration Ganderbal today observed a two-minute silence at the Mini Secretariat to pay tribute to the innocent tourists tragically killed in a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
All officers and officials of the Mini Secretariat assembled in the V.C. Room, where they stood united in silence, expressing deep sorrow over the loss and extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.


Bandipora


Meanwhile, Peaceful demonstrations in the form of candlelight marches were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday evening, condemning the recent civilian killings in Pahalgam.
In Bandipora town, a large number of people, including members of civil society, traders' associations, transport unions and local residents gathered to express their grief and solidarity.
The march in Bandipora began at Harmukh Chowk and concluded at S.K. Stadium. Participants raised slogans condemning the killings and expressed support for the families of the victims.
Speaking on the occasion, participants emphasized unity in the face of tragedy, saying, “We stand united in mourning this grave loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and we unequivocally condemn this senseless act of violence.”
