MBBS students from Kashmir Valley demand postponement of exams citing Covid-19 pandemic and 2G internet issues.
Pertinently, the MBBS examinations in erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled from August 10. Kashmir University has already announced that the exams will be conducted from August 10.
A group of students who visited the office of Kashmir News Trust said that they are not fully prepared for the examination. They said there was already internet problem in Valley and now this current Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected their studies.
Shazia, a student said that they have failed to complete online classes due to 2G network service and besides their syllabus and practical work is also incomplete.
“We have been requesting authorities to postpone the scheduled examination but nobody cares,” she said.
Another student said that it is too risky to appear in the examination at a time when there is Covid-19 outbreak. “There are students who are scared of venturing out and attend colleges. Some students who are supposed to appear in the examination are Covid-19 positive and some belong to areas that government has declared red zones. We are really sacred and concerned for our safety,” she said.
A 1st-year MBBS student said it is really frustrating and disturbing to appear in the examination. “Students are facing multiple problems while the authorities ignore those problems and want to go ahead with the examination.”
These students appealed government to postpone the examination and conduct the same when Covid threat is over and 4G internet restored in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNT)
