
After recovery of an assault rifle from a locker of a doctor at Government Medical College Anantnag, the authorities on Tuesday directed the staff and students at the health institutes to identify and label their personal lockers.
The circular was issued by administrator, associated hospitals, Srinagar and medical superintendent, GMC Anantnag,
“It is impressed upon all the faculty members/ heads of the departments/paramedical staff/ students, to personally identify their lockers and label them with their name, designation and code,” read the circular issued by Administrator, Associated Hospitals.
“This exercise should be completed by November 14 after that Medical Superintendents Govt. SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, RMO's of respective floors, estates cum transport officer govt. Medical College Srinagar will carry out inspection and sort out extra surplus Lockers that are unnecessarily occupying the space of hospital corridors, & Govt. Medical College building corridors at various places,” the circular added.
It stated that no chance will be given to any employee to have any claim on the lockers that will not be identified after specified period.
“The section officers/estates officer/accounts section are also directed not to issue any LPC (last pay certificate), NOC ( no objection certificate) or service book on transfer of any employee until and unless the individual locker of employee is not handed over,” the circular by the administrator, Associated Hospitals, Srinagar read.
Medical superintendent, GMC Anantnag, also ordered that all HODs should identify the lockers/almirahs in their respective departments/wards, etc. and get the name of the staff to whom it is allotted pasted on it.
“Any unidentified locker/almirah which is not owned by anyone should be reported to the undersigned,” he said.
The directions by health institutions came a day after J&K police busted a large inter-state and transnational terror module linked to the proscribed outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), arresting seven people, including two doctors.
During the questioning of one of the doctors, an AK 47 rifle was recovered from his personal locker at GMC Anantnag.
