
The Meteorological Department has predicted four-day wet weather with light to moderate rain and snow at most places from February 25 over Jammu and Kashmir.
“The weather will generally remain dry till February 24,” a MeT official said.
He said the weather will remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow at most places with isolated heavy rain and snow over both Kashmir and Jammu divisions from February 25 till end of the month.
The MeT also issued an advisory stating that there is possibility of temporary disruption of Surface transportation mainly over Sadhna pass, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri axis, Mughal Road, Sinthan pass & other major roads of hilly districts.
“Tourists/travellers/Transporters are advised to plan their trips accordingly and follow Admin/Traffic advisory”, reads the advisory.
Farmers were advised to suspend irrigation and other farm operations during the period.
Meanwhile, the night temperature slightly improved but stayed below freezing point at most weather stations of Kashmir.
The minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday was recorded at Srinagar 0.0°C, ski resort of Gulmarg -5.6°C, tourist resort of Pahalgam -4.3°C and Qazigund -0.6°C.
In Kashmir, the maximum temperature also witnessed an increase by 2 to 4°C on Saturday with highest recorded at Srinagar 15.2°C, Pahalgam 11.0°C and Kupwara 15.2°C.
In Jammu division the night temperature also witnessed a slight drop with Bhaderwah at 1.2°C, Banihal 3.2°C, Jammu 9.2°C and Batote 5.1°C overnight.
Similarly the day temperature recorded the previous day in Jammu 23.5°C, Kathua 22.8°C, Batote 15.4°C and Katra 21.6°C respectively, the MeT office said.
