The Meteorological department Kashmir on Monday predicted drop in day and night temperature across the Valley from November 4.
Director MeT Kashmir Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said the weather will remain generally cloudy on November 4 and 5, with the possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall (over higher reaches) at many places across Kashmir division and at scattered locations in Jammu division, particularly during the evening of November 4 to the early morning of November 5.
The forecast indicates a return to dry weather conditions from November 6 to 15, offering respite after the brief wet spell, he said.
The MeT in an advisory noted that thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely at a few places on the evening of November 4.
Mukhtar said a significant drop in day and night temperatures is expected from November 5 onwards across several areas.
He said the night temperature may fall below freezing point at some hilly areas.
The MeT has advised farmers to suspend agricultural operations on November 4 in view of the expected weather activity.
