A three-day Military-Civil Fusion Seminar commenced today at the Kohima Garrison, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the Indian Armed Forces and civilian governance bodies in Nagaland. The event, held from 08 to 10 September, is a flagship initiative of HQ IGAR (North) under the aegis of #SpearCorps.
Themed "Aligning Defence Forces Missions and Civilian Governance Through a Collaborative Landscape and Shared Vision", the seminar brings together senior military officials, government administrators, policy experts, and civil society leaders to explore avenues for joint development, sustainable peace, and community resilience in Nagaland.
Strengthening synergy between defence and civil institutions
Promoting collaborative developmental initiatives
Enhancing community engagement and trust-building
Encouraging sustainable development in remote and sensitive areas
In his opening remarks, a senior official from HQ IGAR (N) emphasized the importance of integrated approaches to governance and development, especially in frontier and conflict-prone regions like Nagaland.
"The Armed Forces have long played a dual role in ensuring security and supporting civil administration. This seminar is a platform to formalize that synergy for the greater good of the people of Nagaland," he stated.
Senior officers from Assam Rifles and Indian Army
Representatives from Nagaland State Government
Experts in rural development, education, healthcare, and infrastructure
NGOs, academic institutions, and community leaders
The seminar will feature technical sessions and panel discussions on topics such as:
Infrastructure development in remote areas
Skill development and youth empowerment
Disaster management and relief coordination
Health and education outreach by security forces
Strengthening civil-military information exchange systems
This initiative marks a continued effort by the Armed Forces to engage meaningfully with the civilian population and contribute beyond traditional security duties. With a focus on inclusive progress, the seminar is expected to outline actionable frameworks that bridge the gap between military operations and civilian aspirations in the region.
The seminar will conclude on 10 September with the adoption of key resolutions and a roadmap for future military-civil cooperation in Nagaland.
