Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, conducted a detailed inspection of SMHS Hospital Srinagar, reviewing patient care services, infrastructure, medicine availability and overall functioning.

She interacted with the Principal, faculty and staff, and visited the emergency ward, OPDs, diagnostics and in-patient sections, directing officials to ensure timely treatment, cleanliness and smooth patient flow.
The Minister also met patients and attendants to assess service quality firsthand. She stressed uninterrupted availability of essential drugs and life-saving equipment, and instructed strengthening of supply chain monitoring.
Itoo emphasized modernised facilities, equipment maintenance and improved support services, particularly during winter. She said regular inspections will continue to ensure accountability and efficient public healthcare.
Principal GMC Srinagar, Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah, HoDs and other officers accompanied her during the visit.
