
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess progress on ongoing water supply projects in Anantnag, Kulgam, and Pulwama districts.
Chief Engineer and senior officers of the Jal Shakti Department attended the meeting, which focused on accelerating the delivery of clean drinking water to every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Rana reaffirmed the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to ensuring safe and reliable water access for all citizens. He directed officials to strengthen monitoring, ensure transparency, and expedite project execution within set timelines.
Emphasizing sustainable water management, the Minister called for adopting scientific and technology-driven approaches to conserve resources and rejuvenate traditional water bodies like ponds, springs, and wetlands.
He urged public participation in water conservation, stating, “It is our moral responsibility to use water judiciously and adopt eco-friendly lifestyles to secure our future.”
Rana also stressed convergence between Jal Jeevan Mission and related schemes to optimize resources and ensure transparency in implementation. Appreciating district administrations for their efforts, he urged them to sustain momentum toward making J&K a water-secure region.
