
, Feb 1 : The Department of Youth Services and Sports Srinagar today organised a Mini Marathon 1.0 at the scenic Foreshore Road, Dal Lake, witnessing an impressive display of enthusiasm, endurance, and sportsmanship among young athletes.
The event was organised for boys and girls in the age group of 13 to 18 years with the objective of promoting Run for Health, Run for Happiness.The marathon featured timed runs of 3 km, 5 km and 10 km, attracting active participation from youth across the district.The run commenced from Duck Park, Foreshore Road, Dal Lake. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Srinagar, Ghulam Hassan Lone, flagged off the event in the presence of SHO Police Station Nigeen, Zonal Physical Education Officers, senior YSS officials, and other dignitaries.Around 210 participants, including 50 girls, took part in the marathon. The event showcased remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsman spirit among the participants.The colourful atmosphere along the Foreshore Road, combined with the breathtaking view of Dal Lake, added charm to the occasion..At the culmination of the programme, a felicitation function was organised, graced by DYSSO Srinagar, along with Shabir Ahmad overall incharge and (ZPEO Gulabbagh) Shabir was felicitated with a memento for his sincere work.All athletes were awarded with certificates and medals, while outstanding performers received mementos.Overall, the Mini Marathon concluded on a successful and inspiring note, reinforcing the message of health, unity, and active living.
