Jammu, Mar 31: Several legislators, including Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi), Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi and Mubarik Gul, on Tuesday withdrew their resolutions in the Assembly after receiving assurances from the government.
Nazir Ahmad Khan had proposed that promotions in key departments like Education and Health be linked to a minimum of two years of service in far-flung areas. Responding to the proposal, Minister Sakeena Itoo said vacancies are being filled on priority and staff will soon be deployed in hard and remote zones, following which the resolution was withdrawn.
Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi had sought regularization of state and Shamilat land being used by educational institutions and protection from eviction until the process is completed. The government assured that relief measures are already in place and the issue will be further examined, prompting withdrawal of the resolution.
Mubarik Gul raised concerns over the degradation of lakes and water bodies, proposing the creation of a dedicated development authority. Minister Javid Ahmad Dar acknowledged the issue, stating that multiple legal and administrative measures are already in place and further steps will be taken to protect water bodies.
Following these assurances, all three members withdrew their resolutions. Several other legislators also participated in the discussion, highlighting concerns related to staffing, education infrastructure, and environmental conservation.
