Murmu, LG Sinha CM Omar extend Janmashtami greetings

Call for harmony, duty and righteousness

Srinagar, Sep 3: President Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha have extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, highlighting Lord Krishna’s timeless teachings of righteousness, compassion, duty and harmony.
In her message on the eve of Janmashtami, President Murmu extended her heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Indians living in the country and abroad.
She said the life and teachings of Bhagwan Shri Krishna continue to enrich India’s cultural and philosophical heritage. Lord Krishna showed humanity the path of truth, righteousness, justice, compassion and selfless service, she said.
Referring to the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the President said Krishna’s wisdom remains an eternal source of inspiration, particularly in difficult times, guiding people to make prudent decisions while remaining steadfast in moral values.
She said the sacred festival inspires people to uphold harmony and strengthen their devotion to duty and service. She also called upon citizens to follow the ideals of Lord Krishna and work tirelessly towards building an inclusive and developed India.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Janmashtami.
In his message, the Chief Minister said the festival symbolises the triumph of righteousness, truth and compassion over evil. He expressed hope that the occasion would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and mutual respect among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister prayed that Janmashtami brings peace, prosperity and happiness to all and reinforces the spirit of unity and harmony in society.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his heartiest greetings on the occasion, which will be celebrated on September 4, 2026.
In his message, the LG said Lord Krishna’s life and teachings carry a universal message of the ultimate victory of righteousness and virtue. He noted that Krishna’s timeless wisdom on action guides people to fulfil their duties without attachment to the outcome.
The Lieutenant Governor prayed that Lord Krishna continues to guide people towards righteousness and that his divine blessings bring joy and prosperity to all.
The messages by the three constitutional authorities underscored the enduring relevance of Lord Krishna’s teachings and the festival’s message of righteousness, duty, peace, compassion and social harmony.
