Poonch, Jan 28:The “My Youth My Pride” District Poonch Ball Badminton Championship 2025–26 concluded successfully with a felicitation ceremony for the Winners and Runner-Up teams at Carmel School Chandak, Poonch. The two-day championship was held from 27th to 28th January 2026.

The championship was organized by the District Poonch Ball Badminton Association in collaboration with the J&K Ball Badminton Association, under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative of the J&K Sports Council, which also sponsored the event.
A total of 15 teams participated in the tournament, with around 150 players representing various schools, colleges, institutions, and clubs of District Poonch. The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation and high standards of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The award distribution ceremony marked the culmination of the event. s. Jisha Maria, Principal, Carmel School Chandak, Poonch, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Ms. Stephy (Manager, Carmel School Poonch), . Owais-ud-Din (KIC Mentor, Badminton, Poonch), and . Saval Ahmad (KIC Mentor, Hockey, Poonch), who attended as Guests of Honour.
. Owais-ud-Din and . Saval Ahmad were also deputed by the J&K Sports Council as Observers to oversee the conduct of the championship and ensure that the event was organized strictly in accordance with prescribed norms. Their roles as observers were formally acknowledged by the association during the event.
The championship was conducted under the overall supervision of . Manzoor Ahmad Lone from District Poonch. He was ably assisted by district officials . Mohd Sohail, . Ajaz Ahmad, . Israr Ahmad, . Mohd Rayaz, and . Tahir Yaseen, whose dedicated efforts and teamwork ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
. Mohd Akram, Organizing Secretary of the Championship, along with other members of the J&K Ball Badminton Association, were also present as Guests of Honour and distributed medals to the Winners and Runner-Up teams.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest s. Jisha Maria appreciated the talent, discipline, and commitment displayed by the budding players. She encouraged them to remain focused, continue hard work, and strive to bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir at higher levels of competition.
The dignitaries expressed their gratitude to all stakeholders for their cooperation and support in making the championship a success. The event concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the commitment of the J&K Sports Council and its affiliated associations towards the promotion and development of sports at the grassroots level.
