
Charar-e-Sharief, April 2: A grand Naatiya Mushaira was organized today in Charar-e-Sharief by Kashmir Markaz Adab-o-Saqafat to commemorate the renowned Sufi poet, late Ghulam Rasool Sudoor. The event celebrated his life, works, and literary contributions, blending devotion with Kashmir’s rich poetic heritage.
The gathering was presided over by noted writer and former Deputy SP, Ghulam Qadir Shaheen, with prominent literary figures, including Mohammad Amin Bhat, President of Markaz Adab Kamraz, and Professor Nilofer Naz Nahvi, on the presidium. Inayat Gul, General Secretary of the organization, presented a detailed paper highlighting Sudoor’s achievements.
A Naatiya Mushaira was held, where eminent poets recited devotional poetry in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). A key highlight was the unveiling of the poetry collection “Navi Namas Peeth” by Manzoor Ahmad Damdar of Khanyar, Srinagar.
Distinguished poets participating included Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, Salam Charawani, Ali Ahsan, Mushtaq Mehram, Ghulam Nabi Adfar, Asim Asadi, Nazir Majrooh, Ghulam Ahmad Mir Sogami, Mohammad Abdullah Dar, Mohammad Akbar Dar, Nazir Qureshi Ibn Shehbaz, Siraj-ud-Din Shah Kupwara, Nazir Salik, Shaukat Firar, Mohammad Akram Shoqeen, Younis Waheed, Ghulam Qadir Shoqeen, Shah Waseem Zagipora, Tanha Niaz Zagipora, among others.
Saima Ashraf captivated the audience with a melodious recitation of a Naat written by Sudoor. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mutwali Ziarat, Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA), celebrating devotion, cultural heritage, and the poetic traditions of Kashmir.
