National Conf on IKS concludes at SKUAST-Jmu

Jammu, April 17: The three-day National Conference on “Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems with Modern Science for Viksit Bharat,” organised by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-Jammu), concluded with a valedictory function at Baba Jitto Auditorium, Main Campus, Chatha.

Professor B. R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, attended as chief guest, while Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Babila Rakwal, was the guest of honour.
Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Professor B. N. Tripathi, lauded the successful conduct of the conference, highlighting the participation of experts from diverse disciplines and the enthusiastic involvement of students. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to advancing Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in line with national priorities.
In his address, Prof. Kamboj stressed the need for scientific validation, documentation, and wider dissemination of traditional knowledge. He noted that integrating India’s rich knowledge heritage with modern science is essential for achieving sustainability and the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Babila Rakwal appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that India’s traditional systems—from Ayurveda to astronomy—hold immense value and must be preserved and integrated with contemporary scientific approaches for holistic development.
The conference, held from April 15 to 17, brought together scientists, academicians, and policymakers from across the country. It featured technical sessions, panel discussions, and research presentations on key themes including sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and traditional farming practices.
During the valedictory session, awards and certificates were presented to outstanding participants and presenters. The event witnessed participation from university officials, faculty, scientists, students, and representatives of Vigyan Bharti.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Organising Secretary Dr. Vinod Gupta, who acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders in making the conference a success.
