“There is no place like home.” : Winston Churchill
This quotation reminds me of the journey I experienced while staying away from home. We observe different things when we stay away from our hometown. We encounter a variety of circumstances that educate us on how to handle life’s intricacies, enhancing our resilience and ensuring our survival. Living away from home is more difficult than we may have imagined, and it can make matters worse for students.
I made the decision to study far from home in eighth grade because my cousin brother had also chosen to do so and was enrolled in Parual University of Pharmacy in Vadodara, Gujarat, one of the renowned private universities in India. This dream began in eighth grade, but it really took off in eleventh and twelfth grade, when I was ready to study far from home and had also decided to complete my degree in New Delhi. I therefore passed the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) in order to get a seat at Delhi colleges, and I was assigned to Ramjas College of North Campus.
It was therefore not going to be simple for me to start over at Ramjas College of the University of Delhi because I was from a village and lacked the all-around development that city students are accustomed to, and they are more accustomed to adjusting to this complex environment. They have been observing all these things from their childhood, but for villagers who come from diverse areas it acts as a problem, so they face difficulty to maintain stability.
In order to assist students from varied backgrounds who encounter challenges, I would want to share my extensive expertise with you. Some major issues which you need to manage are:-
Home Sickness
The natural gifts which God has blessed to everyone is his/her family, so living in your home with family is completely different from living outside home, it’s sure when you move to a new place, you miss your family life, you miss your parents, brothers, sisters, etc etc.
Talking about myself, when I made the plan to study outside, my father took it lightly as he thought my son is kidding to me, but when he was sure that I have made a plan, so he was a little bit confused, he thought several things, he felt the big city Delhi may be not appropriate for me, but he loves me and cares about my wishes, desires, so he made his mind to accompany me in the traveling process.
It's been 1 and a half year , I am in New Delhi, but I am missing my family, my mother’s love, my father’s care for me, my friend’s, my mentors, am badly missing them, when I remember them my eyes are filled with tears, but I manage, when I talk to them I don’t make them feel that I am missing them.
Therefore, it’s never simple to keep your emotions under control when you’re away from home. Try to keep things stable in whatever manner you can.
Your Joining Time
The classic quote, “Time and Tide waits for none,” can help you grasp the realities of time. Time is a significant factor in everyone’s life, regardless of whether they are diligent or lazy.
Your joining in any institute matters, same was case with me, college classess were about to start from 16 Aug, and I was in Delhi on 12th Aug, but no one knows what’s gonna happen in future, some health, some admission related problems made it impossible for me to join college on 16th August, even the document related problem wasted my 2 months, till 2 months I was not able to join college, then I joined college on 3rd October due to which I was not able to understand these things, wasn’t able to compete with other students, which affected me badly .
Accommodation for Survival
It’s clear when you are shifting from one area to another, you need accomodation for your stay, so that you can easily handle all the work related to your study, for this purpose the colleges affiliated with Universities have hostel facility, but my all study aspects were disturbed how can I get the hostel facility there, so this added more severity to my troubles, and moreover my health conditions turned worse due to changing adaptations, some guys helped me in the PG but then by the grace of Almighty God, a person namely Farhan Khan helped me, whom I consider my brother, he treated me more than like a brother, he shifted me to his home, then he took care of me, I remained there for about 3 months and he was there every moment with me, I learnt from him how to help people.
Day by day learning makes you efficient, you are able to add on to your personality, you learn new things, interact with new people and get familiar to these things, these 4 months were totally different from the rest of life, I hadn’t travelled alone, I hadn’t even made a cup of tea at home, washing clothes, these all things were strange for me, I learnt these things staying away from home, I was experiencing a new world.
It was first time in my life I was getting familiar with the term diversity, till now I had just heard a word diversity but now I was experiencing a living in the diverse environment where my classmates and teachers were from different states of India, interacting with them.
